What a Beauty! A colorful composition that makes the eyes so glad it got the chance to splash this image all over its rods n' cones. And not only is it pretty to look at, but there's so much more...much more...

In it, one can see the last, desperate push of the American religious right to spread it's increasingly irrelevent doctrine by futilly nailing itself to the likewise sinking ship of christian cross-bearing and guilt-giving. The twelve feet (one imagines the 13th & 14th are still back at the beach, connected to a bewildered believer who's hovering in a seated position over the shoreline, entranced in watching invisible feet leave footprints in the sand beneath him), being nailed securly down, reveal how far their efforts will ultimately take them. The airbrushed blood, likewise, added for emotional impact, reveals only the clear detachment modern citizens have twords this kind of marketing gimmick.

The thoughtful recessing of the Grand ol' Flag and clear blue sky, the radiant Sun/Light of Knowledge seen as through a window - a picture window - with a view to the calm, normalsy of life behind all the drama. Yet therein lies the deception, the true brilliance of this work.
( Brisbane Art Institute students take note...)

As ones eye and quickening heart rate are taken in all directions out from the center, the true force at work here is the black "Dark Energy" that's pushing its way in, as Animal Planet says, ",,,For the kill." The inevitable tearing assunder of us all, and all we are or imagine ourselves to be, awaits us in the encroaching blackness; Religion, morals, nationalism, family values, banners (star spangled or otherwise), pedicures, hell...even Sunny Days will all disolve and absorb into the blackness of our ever expanding cosmos. (you students can simply note: "WE'RE ALL DOOMED!" and underline it)

But that's not the end of the syntrifical story this work is weaving. Not at all. Take another look.

There.........you see it now?

No, you don't, but it's not your fault. It was a trick.

I'll tell you why. The real power of this piece is what lingers in the viewer after he leaves the image behind to wander on to the next one, perhaps "NUDE OFFENDING A STAIRCASE", another gem from PancreasSupervisor. In spite of the sad farce of impending doom that's just melded itself to our heart and mind, the viewer (or student of art) is left with a lingering satisfaction that real quality art has the power to make us enjoy the time we live in, which is all the time we have left anyway. Art students and livers of life in general are assured that what they devote themselves to IS important in this ticking-time-bomb curio cabinet of a world we try to live in.

See...? Ya feel it now, don'tcha?! Feels pretty darn good, too, right? Ya betcha. Art is good. Life is good. Good art is better. Say it with me now...

"Art is good. Life is good. Good art is better."

C'mon! Like ya MEAN IT!!!

"ART IS GOOD! LIFE IS GOOD! GOOD ART IS BETTER!!!"

There ya go! Now take that good feeling out into the world, take it to work, take it to class, let it drive you to achieve your best and enjoy your life! Let it give you the courage to do your best, at anything......growing better begonias, lifting heavier weights, or even creating better art.

And to be clear, PancreasSupervisors's message isn't "Follow Me", it's "Follow YOU!" Be the best darn YOU you can be! As John Lennon says in his song, "I Want You", "I want you". But he doesn't want you. He wants YOU! He wants to experience YOU, the complete YOU, the YOU of your full potential! He wants YOU so bad it's driving him mad! And I'm sure PancreasSupervisor is driven just as mad. And he's mad alright. Mad like a fox.

Now, I can hear some of you student and non-student PancreasSupervisors out there saying, "Bullshit. That's not what this collage is about at all!" Well...maybe, but that's what I get out of it, so...pphhthzpht!
